The 2021-22 soccer season ended for all of our teams in May – all except
one: our 2009 Elite oys. These boys went undefeated in the National
Premier League’s (NPL) Florida Club League 1, earning them the right to
represent Florida at the NPL East Playoffs in North Carolina.
The
boys’ pathway to the championship game included three games against
other state champions, which our boys won by scores of 4-0, 3-2 and 3-1.
This set up a game against Charleston Soccer Club – a team that had not
given up a single goal in their three playoff games.
The
championship game opened with a goal by Gerry Ananga. Luke McElroy
followed with two second-half goals and Nathan Thomas sealed the 4-1
victory with a goal of his own.
It was a dominant NPL season for
our 2009 Elite Boys. They went 11-0-1 during the regular Florida Club
League 1 season and finished the playoffs undefeated for an overall NPL
record of 15-0-1.
At the U13 level, the East champion doesn't get
to play the West champion. But our boys are already thinking about
defending their title and winning the overall national title next year.
Congrats boys!
